Antoxis Targeting Free Radicals in Disease

Our Business Model
Antoxis' core competence is early in the drug discovery process. By taking an informed design approach to synthesising new chemical entities, using natural product scaffolds, we can reduce risk to investors and add significant value to the business at an early stage. We undertake first-stage chemical and biochemical activity screening of our compounds in-house to rapidly advance our knowledge of structure-activity relationships. This allows responsiveness in the rational design of further compound libraries in an iterative process and early lead selection. Furthermore, we can identify, validate and protect valuable IP close to outset.
Through investment we will progress our leads, using CRO's, to Phase IIa clinical trials, then look to partner or license with major pharmas. This strategy will maximise returns to our investors by significantly ramping-up value in our products and the company.
Antoxis will also look at earlier stage strategic alliances with other biotechs to enable expansion into non-core clinical areas in response to the likely broad applicability of our antioxidant technologies. From our strong structure-activity knowledge base, we will seek to in-license and develop appropriate technologies from academic institutions and identify partnership opportunities with natural product companies where our own core competences can impart drug-like qualities to herbal actives.
Funding History
Antoxis raised £ 168,000 of seedcorn investment from the Edinburgh-based Genomia Fund in March 2006. This will allow the company to drive forward pre-clinical trials of its lead compound, AO-1-530, in relation to ischaemic stroke and to expand its R&D program into new clinical areas. Further IP will be generated as part of an ambitious drug pipeline expansion that will capitalise on the company's platform technologies.
